Tell me whether the keys are missing or the door has failed
Keys left inside, a broken key and a door stuck on its locking mechanism are different problems. Tell me which sounds closest, and whether anyone is inside. I prioritise lockouts and will tell you when I can attend.
If someone is in immediate danger or needs emergency rescue, call 999. A locksmith visit should not delay emergency help.
What does the £65 cover?
It covers gaining entry. If you have a spare key inside and the lock is working, a replacement lock may not be needed. If keys are missing or the lock is faulty, I’ll explain the options and agree the cost of any further work.
There is no call-out fee, distance charge or parking charge. Prices don’t increase at night, at weekends or on bank holidays.
A lost-key job in Forsbrook
A customer called after losing her key while walking her dog. I picked the lock to get her inside, where she had a spare. I copied it in my own workshop as part of the job. She thought she might find the missing key, so I explained that we could arrange a lock change if it didn’t turn up.
Picking worked on that door. The method needed for yours depends on the lock and its condition; I don’t promise that every lock can be opened without damage.

What if the door is jammed shut?
If a failed gearbox or full mechanism needs replacing, opening a door that is stuck shut when I arrive is included in that replacement job. Typical supplied-and-fitted prices are £150–£180 for a gearbox and £180–£250 for a full mechanism. Read about stuck doors.
