Key lost on a dog walk: back inside by picking the lock
What I did. I picked the lock to get her inside, so nothing was damaged. She had a spare key in the house, so I cut her a fresh set of keys in my own workshop.
The result. She was back inside with new keys. The lost key might still turn up, so I advised that if it didn’t, I could come back and fit a new lock so nobody who found it could get in.
What I found. Water had got into the mechanism over time and the inside of the lock had corroded, so the key was under more and more strain each time it turned.
The result. The lock survived. The customer didn’t need a new lock and kept his existing keys.

Locked out close to home
Getting you back in is £65, and the price doesn’t go up at weekends or on bank holidays. I aim to open the door without damaging it, picking the lock where I can. If your keys are lost rather than locked inside, I’ll talk you through whether the lock needs changing, and agree that price separately.
A key that’s getting stiff
A key rarely snaps out of nowhere. Usually the lock has been getting stiffer for months, because water has got into the mechanism and it has started to corrode. If your key is getting harder to turn, ring me before it breaks. If it has already snapped, I can often get the piece out and save the lock.
When you ring, you speak to me. I support Blythe Bridge Cricket Club, and Forsbrook is where I live and work. There’s no call-out fee and no charge for distance, and my work has a 12-month guarantee on parts and labour.

I rang Bret to give me a quote on a lock that my key kept getting stuck in, he said he would be about an hour he kept me up to date with a message saying 30 minutes away within the hour he was here. We contacted Bret based on previous reviews and wanting a local independent locksmith and pleased that we did! Lovely friendly cost effective service, came out quickly and fixed mechanism of a Brocken lock I was told had to be angle grinded off. Iced , adjusted and lubricated so won’t happen again. Truly recommend
